about

The Xavante are an indigenous people, comprising some 9,600 individuals within the territory of eastern Mato Grosso state in Brazil. Music and dance are at the core of Xavante life. During ceremonies groups of men sing from morning through the day and beat time with rattles made of pigs' teeth. This is truly roots, tribal music. A collaboration blending modern electrical wizardry with ancient Xavante rhythms and sounds would span the vast majority of musical history and world cultures.
